Day One Hometown to Christchurch D
From your nearest airport fly to Christchurch where you will be met by our tour leaders and transferred to the hotel.

Today explore the new city of Christchurch. Optional tours available.
Day Three Christchurch to Greymouth B/L/DJoining our chartered train, we traverse one of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges – the Southern Alps. Crossing the Canterbury Plains to the foothills the train begins its ascent to Arthurs Pass. Travelling by coaches between Arthurs Pass and Otira, on the Otira Viaduct, view the awe-inspiring scenery before re-joining the train to continue our rail journey through the rainforests and wetlands of the West Coast.

Today we join our coaches for the journey to Westport. Heading along coastal road we stop to view the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki. From Westport we make our way to the Denniston Plateau (weather permitting). Denniston, steeped in mining history, offers fabulous coastal views.
Day Five Greymouth to Ashburton B/L/D Retracing our tracks today we leave the rainforests and wetlands of the West Coast to emerge at Arthurs Pass. Continuing through the mountains the descent to the Canterbury Plains offers fabulous vistas of the Alps and rivers.

From Ashburton we continue south by train to Dunedin. Our journey takes us over the South Canterbury Plains, through Timaru and Oamaru, and loops around Blueskin Bay.

Day Seven Dunedin to Queenstown B/L/D
Join the Taieri Gorge Excursion train for a spectacular rail journey through the magnificent Taieri Gorge. Reaching Middlemarch we join our coaches to continue by road to Queenstown for our 2 night stay.
Rydges Hotel, Queenstown 2 nightsToday is at leisure to enjoy all Queenstown has to offer. An optional cruise to Walter Peak on the “TSS Earnslaw” is available.
Day Nine Queenstown to Te Anau B/D Leaving Queenstown we follow the Lake Wakatipu shoreline and onto Lumsden and Manapouri to Te Anau. Optional tours to the Te Anau Glowworm caves are available.

Today we journey along the Milford Road through mountain beech forests framed by a spectacular backdrop of snow-capped mountains and join a lunch cruise on Milford Sound.
Day Eleven Te Anau to Invercargill B/D
From Te Anau we make our way to Invercargill via Tuatapere and Riverton.

Starting in Bluff today we join our train for the trip back to Invercargill and the Southern Main Trunk line. Arriving in Dunedin join our coaches for a city sights tour.

Today is at leisure to enjoy the ‘Edinburgh of South’. Optional tours are available to Larnach Castle and the Albatross Colony. This evening enjoy the Scottish festivities before a farewell dinner. Day Fourteen Dunedin to Hometown B This morning transfer to Dunedin Airport for your homeward flight.
