Molesworth & Marlborough: History & Heritage
20th - 26th November 2022
Discover some of the early history, heritage and awe-inspiring scenery of Molesworth, Kaikoura and Marlborough. The highlight of the tour would be Molesworth Station — arguably New Zealand’s most famous high country station. Roughly the same size as Stewart Island, it is New Zealand’s largest farm. Today the land is owned by the Department of Conservation and the farming operation is managed by Landcorp. It is an area rich in history, with outstanding natural features, and a stunning and dramatic landscape.
Starting from Christchurch the tour travels to Hanmer Springs where you enjoy three nights in the delightful alpine village. From Hanmer Springs we join the Molesworth Station Heritage Tour and journey into this remote and stunning part of New Zealand by 4WD off-road bus, getting visitors into the out-reaches of this high country station.
The tour has a night in Kaikoura before continuing to Blenheim in Marlborough where you'll cruise on the Pelorus Sound Mail Boat, and visit the Karearea Trust for a fascinating insight and encounter with the Karearea, the endangered New Zealand falcon.
Highlights of the tour include the Lavender Farm, the Pelorus Sound Mail Run, Falcon encounter, Hanmer Thermal Pools & Spa, and of course, the Molesworth Heritage Tour.
