Itinerary

5 to 15 June 2026
Day 1 – Arrival in Adelaide

On arrival in Adelaide, enjoy an orientation tour highlighting the city’s key sights. Stop for lunch and enjoy some free time to explore at your leisure before being transferred to your hotel.
In the early evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner — a great opportunity to meet the group and settle in.

Day 2 – Discover Adelaide on Foot

Begin the day with a leisurely breakfast before setting out on a guided walking tour of Adelaide. Explore the major landmarks and streets that have earned Adelaide its nicknames, the City of Churches and Radelaide. Learn the story behind the famous Mall’s Balls, hear how the city was founded, and uncover fascinating local history along the way. Visit the iconic Adelaide Central Market, with more than 150 years of history, the market is a true local treasure.

Day 3 – Barossa Valley

Today we journey to the Barossa Valley, Australia’s richest and most renowned wine region. Along the way, experience the famous Whispering Wall, where acoustics work their magic. Enjoy a relaxed wine tasting before visiting the iconic Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, a celebration of regional produce and culinary passion.

Day 4 – Barossa Valley - Murray River

This morning we farewell the Barossa Valley and travel toward the Murray River, stopping at historic Seppeltsfield Estate for an insightful tour and wine tasting followed by lunch. Afterwards, take to the skies on a scenic helicopter flight for a truly unique aerial view of the Barossa’s vineyards and landscapes.
Arriving mid-afternoon, step aboard the elegant Murray Princess, where the friendly crew will assist you with boarding and settling into your comfortable cabin. Unpack for your 4 night cruise before exploring the vessel or relax on deck as the paddlewheeler gently departs. Keep watch for nocturnal wildlife along the riverbanks as you glide beneath floodlights.

Day 5 – Murray River Cruise

Wake to peaceful river views and enjoy a cooked breakfast as the Murray Princess cruises past towering red gums and tranquil wetlands. Prolific birdlife includes pelicans, wrens and swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising up river to Blanchetown. through onr of 13 locks which maintain the flow and levels of the river's water.
This afternoon join the visit to Burk Salter Boutique Winery and enjoy a wine tasting at the cellar door. 

 
Day 6 -Murray River Cruise

After breakfast cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach, first settled in the 1850s. Join the walking tour to learn about town and river history, paddle steamer life, and local communities. Return onboard for lunch, followed by a restful afternoon—perfect for reading, chatting in the lounge, or watching wildlife from the deck. 
Arriving at Sunnydale, its all ashore for the Woolshed Show - a recreation of typical Australian woolshed history. Afterwards visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia's most interesting natice animals are cared for.

Day 7 - Murray River Cruise

Slowly cruise through one of the river’s most picturesque stretches, passing magnificant cliffs scoured by the river millions of years ago. Reaching Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park, take a guided boardwalk through one of Australia's most significant archaeological sites, viewing rock carvings and learning about the Aboriginal history in the area.The afternoon is free for rest before a special farewell dinner in the evening, celebrating the journey and friendships made along the way.

Day 8 - Mannum to Adelaide

Enjoy a final breakfast as the Murray Princess makes her way back to Mannum. After bidding farewell to the Murray Princess, re-join your coach for the return journey to Adelaide. Along the way, enjoy a guided visit to Monarto Safari Park, home to a wide range of exotic wildlife roaming in open habitats. The day concludes with a stop at a local chocolate factory, where chocolate lovers can discover how these sweet treats are made — and perhaps sample a few delights.

Day 9 – Adelaide Sightseeing

A visit to Adelaide wouldn’t be complete without exploring the stunning Adelaide Hills. Just a short drive from the city, this region offers cool-climate scenery, winding roads, and charming villages. Stop by Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, famous for its heritage streets, artisan shops, and traditional food. Nature lovers will enjoy Cleland Wildlife Park, where you can get up close with native animals in a natural bushland setting, before heading to Mount Lofty Summit for breathtaking panoramic views over Adelaide and the coastline.

Day 10 – Day at Leisure

Today is at leisure. Adelaide boasts excellent museums, art galleries, restaurants, and cafés, all within easy walking distance. Take a tour of the Adelaide Oval, stroll through the Botanic Gardens or visit the Adelaide Zoo.

Day 11 – Time to go home

This morning farewell Adelaide and transfer to Adelaide International Airport for your flight direct to Auckland with Air New Zealand, arriving in Auckland early evening.

  • Cabins on the Murray Princess are Outside Cabins with twin beds, and private ensuite.
  • For your safety and enjoyment you should be in good physical condition to partake in the tour unassisted. Tours and sightseeing may involve walking over uneven ground and steps. This tour is not suitable for wheelchairs or walking frames.
