Day One   Hometown to Dunedin            D
From your home town fly to Dunedin. On arrival in Dunedin you are transferred to the hotel for your two night stay. Mercure Leisure Lodge - 2 nights
Day Two   Dunedin Sightseeing         B/D
This morning enjoy a city sights tour of Dunedin before driving to the tip of the Otago Peninsula - Taiaroa Heads, where the world’s only main land colony of Royal Albatross is found. View the interpretive displays and introductory “Attenborough” video before joining a guided tour to the Richdale Observatory where the colony and nesting sites can be viewed.
Late afternoon we visit Penguin Place a private Yellow-Eyed Penguin conservation reserve. A series of trenches and observation points throughout the reserve can have you within just a few feet of these endangered birds.

Day Three   Dunedin –  Catlins          B/L/D
Today we journey along the Southern Scenic route to Kaka Pt. in the Catlins.
A number of stops will be made on route to view natural wonders, waterfalls, scenery and wildlife. Many walking tracks lead to awe-inspiring treasures of the Catlins. Enjoy the shorter tracks that are of 10-45 minutes return.

Day Four   Catlins Sightseeing       B/L/D
Today we continue our exploration of the Catlins region.

Day Five  Catlins to Stewart Is. B/L/D
This morning we leave the Catlins region and travel to Curio Bay as we make our way to Invercargill. There we board light aircraft for the 20 minute flight across the Foveaux Strait to Stewart Island.

Day Six   Paterson Inlet              B/L/D
Today we join "Wildfire" for a chartered cruise. Shortly after leaving Halfmoon Bay we disembark at Ulva Island for a guided walk of this truly amazing island abundant with birdlife. Ulva Island is one of the few open island sanctuaries accessible to the public. Late morning it’s back onto "Wildfire" for a leisurely cruise around Patersons Inlet and picnic lunch onboard. On the return home the seabirds are fed and many kinds of Albatross, Shearwaters and other pelagic birds are usually seen.
Day Seven   Stewart Is. Sightseeing        B/D
This morning we join a bus tour and gain an insight into the community, history and environment of Stewart Island. Highlights include Rakiura National Park entrance at Lee Bay, Halfmoon and Horseshoe Bays and views of Paterson Inlet from Observation Rock. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the local area at leisure. There are many short walks in and around Halfmoon Bay.

Day Eight  Invercargill                       B/D
This morning we have a leisurely start before we farewell Stewart Island and join the short flight to Invercargill. Before transferring to the hotel we visit the Museum which is home to the Tuatara.
The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the city. The Kelvin Hotel, Invercargill - 1 night

Day Nine   Invercargill to Hometown

Farewell to new friends and Southland as we transfer to Invercargill airport for the return flight home.
