Tuesday 2nd Auckland to New Plymouth Dinner Departing from Auckland we head south via Hamilton, Otorohanga and Te Kuiti. Arriving late afternoon in New Plymouth, relax and unpack for your 3 night stay. Devon Hotel, New Plymouth 3 nightsWednesday 3rd Town Gardens & Pukeiti Breakfast, Dinner This morning we visit New Plymouth's town gardens and see just how a small space can be transformed into a delightful and peaceful little garden. This afternoon we visit Pukeiti, New Zealand's premier rhododendron garden set on the lower slopes of Mt Taranaki. Thursday 4th Country Gardens Breakfast, Dinner Today we visit some of the regions most beautiful and outstanding country gardens including: Cairnhill - a vibrant, colourful garden framed by a canopy of deciduous trees underplanted with hosts and heuchera; Stanleigh with views to both the coast and mountain on fine days and Waiongana - an ambitious garden, inspired by the formality of traditional European designs. |
Friday 5th New Plymouth - Palmerston North
Breakfast, Dinner Today we travel south and stop at a variety of small and large gardens, all with interesting plantings and some unique design features. Late afternoon we arrive in Palmerston North for our overnight stay. Copthorne, Palmerston North 1 nightSaturday 6th Palmerston North - WhakapapaBreakfast, Dinner This morning we travel to Kimbolton, north of Feilding where we visit Cross Hills Gardens, which are ablaze with colour. Explore the 7 hectares of gardens featuring New Zealand's largest and most comprehensive collections of flowering rhododendrons and azaleas. Tonight we stay at Whakapapa. The Grand Chateau Tongariro, Whakapapa VillageSunday 7th Whakapapa - Auckland Breakfast Leaving the Chateau and National Park we return to Auckland stopping in Hamilton at the Hamilton Gardens. Awarded International Garden of the Year in 2014, the gardens have a unique collection of garden rooms from an English Flower garden to an Italian Renaissance garden. We return to Auckland arriving approximately 6:30pm. |
