Get off the beaten track and discover the East Cape and Pacific Coast Highway with its rocky coastlines & sandy beaches. Stay at Hicks Bay & see the lighthouse on NZ’s most easterly point. Enjoy a guided tour at Eastwoodhill Arboretum, Art Deco Walking Tour in Napier and Gannet Beach Adventure by tractor to Cape Kidnappers.
Departing from Auckland the tour travels the Pacific Coast Highway to Waihi and Tauranga and follows the route through to Whakatane, Opotiki and around the East Cape to Gisborne and the Hawkes Bay before returning to Auckland via Taupo.
The Eastland section of the Pacific Coast Highway gets “off the beaten track” and is a part of New Zealand that has changed little over recent years. The journey through this beautiful region with spectacular scenery, clear rivers, bush-clad hill sides, rocky coastlines and sandy beaches is a magical place just waiting to be discovered. View the East Cape Lighthouse on the North Island’s most easterly point and discover some of the local industries from growing Manuka, extracting the oil and producing honey. Take in the autumn colours of Eastwood Hill Arboretum and enjoy some of the culinary delights of the Hawkes Bay.
