Itinerary
Thursday 29 Auckland – New Plymouth
Dinner
Departing from Auckland at approximately 9am, we travel South via Hamilton to Otorohanga and onto the Waitomo Caves. On a guided tour discover the underground labyrinth of ancient limestone caverns and formations, and marvel at the galaxy of tiny living lights in the famed Glowworm Grotto. From Waitomo we travel through the spectacular Awakino Gorge taking us on the West Coast. On a clear day we might catch glimpses of Mt Taranaki as we drive down the coast to New Plymouth.
Arriving in New Plymouth uppack for your 3 night stay at the Devon Hotel.
The Devon Hotel has a buffet restaurant and bar, and heat pool and spa.

Friday 30 Around the Mountain
Buffet Breakfast and Dinner
Today we tour around the mountain. At Stratford we stop to view the performance of Romeo & Juliet within New Zealand's only Glockenspiel clock. Stratford's central clock is unique in the world for its Shakespearean theme. We visit Tawhiti Museum whichhas something to interest everyone, even those tht don't usually visit museums. Whilst at the museum visit thenew exhibit - Traders & Whalers. Returning to New Plymouth via the coastal road we take the short drive from the main road to the Cape Egmont light house (access permitting).
Saturday 31 Sightseeing
Buffet Breakfast and Buffet Dinner
OUr sightseeing today includes the Fernery in Pukekura Park, a walk on the coastal board walk and a visit to a macadamia nut orchard. A tour takes us from the orchards to thenut processing factory and finishes with a tasting of the nutty products. Later we transfer to Pukekura Park for the Festival of Lights. Enjoy entertainment as you wander through the park lit by thousands of lights that turn it into an enchanted night time wonderland.
Sunday 01 January Sightseeing -
Mokau River Cruise
Buffet Breakfast, Picnic Lunch and Buffet Dinner
Today we enjoy a leisurely cruise on the scenic Mokau River aboard the MV Cygnet, the original cream boat of the river. Neil our skipper provides a knowledgeable commentary about the cream boat, its history, the river and local history. A lovely picnic lunch is enjoyed on the river bank amongst native bush and there is a short bush walk for those wanting to stretch their legs.
Monday 02 New Plymouth – Auckland
Buffet Breakfast
Today we return Auckland stopping in Hamilton to visit the Hamilton Gardens. These gardens have a series of unique theme gardens from a delightful English flower garden to a vibrant Indian Char Bagh garden. There is also an excellent Rose garden.
We arrive back into Auckland at approximately 6pm.
