Friday 24 Auckland – Paihia
Buffet Dinner
Departing from Auckland at approximately 9am, we travel North via the Dargaville and the Kauri Coast.
We visit the Matakohe Kauri Museum and gain a fascinating insight of the early settlers and history of the Kauri tree. We stop in the Waipoua Forest to view Tane Mahutu, New Zealand’s largest Kauri tree. Arriving in Paihia, unpack for your 3 night stay at the Kingsgate Hotel, Autolodge. Situated on the Paihia waterfront the hotel is within minutes of the town centre.
Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Paihia Saturday 25 Christmas Day Sightseeing Buffet Breakfast, Picnic Lunch and Christmas Dinner After a leisurely breakfast, we join the Cream Trip cruise through the beautiful Bay of Islands. Following the path of the original cream trip, the cruise takes you through the “Hole in the Rock” at Cape Brett, past historic sites and points of interest. Deliveries are made to some of the islands and a picnic lunch is enjoyed at Urupukapuka Island. During the cruise you may have the opportunity to view dolphins. This evening enjoy a sumptuous Christmas dinner with all the traditional trimmings. Sunday 26 Sightseeing Buffet Breakfast and Dinner Today we tour to Kerikeri and take a guided tour of the Stone Store and Kemp House. We visit Rainbow falls before returning to Paihia to take the ferry to Russell. Arriving in Russell we join the Russell Mini Tour that will take you to places not easily accessed on foot. The remainder of the afternoon is free to visit Russell’s Museum or Pompalier Mission House (own expense). Monday 27 Paihia – Auckland Buffet Breakfast This morning we visit Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a guided tour. Your knowledgeable guide, passionate about Waitangi and the treaty, will take you on a tour through the grounds. Leaving Paihia we return to Auckland stopping at the picturesque Whangarei Falls and the Whangarei Town Basin where we have guided tour of the Claphams Clock Museum. This unique attraction has the largest collection of clocks in the southern hemisphere and is sure to have something to fascinate everyone. We arrive back in Auckland at approximately 6pm Includes:
