to the Chateau Tongariro

A weekend at the Chateau is a great short break away and what better way to get there than by train. Enjoy scenery not otherwise seen by road as you travel through the farmlands of the Waikato and King Country.
Departing Britomart, Auckland at 7.20am, the train makes stops at Middlemore, Papakura, Pukekohe and Hamilton to uplift passengers.
Morning tea and lunch is enjoyed on the train as you journey to the heart of the North Island. Amongst the many rail features is the famous Raurimu Spirial taking the train up onto the Central Plateau and into National Park where you disembark and transfer by coach to Chateau Tongariro.
Enjoy a relaxing evening at the Chateau including dinner.
Sunday morning following a leisurely breakfast join our bus trip up to the "Top of the Bruce" where you can take the chair lift (own expense) to the top of the ski field or wander down to Happy Valley for a bit of tobogoning.
Early afternoon you are transferred to National Park for the return journey to Auckland by train.

If you are travelling by yourself and would like to share a room, we will do our utmost to match you with a suitable participant. In the event we are unable to match you with someone, the single room supplement will be charged.
