Itinerary

Friday 2 September           Auckland to Adelaide               
Dinner   
Collected from your home or hotel in Auckland, transfer to Auckland International Airport for your flight with Air New Zealand direct to Adelaide. Arriving in Adelaide you are met and taken on an orientation tour before transferring to your hotel. Afternoon is at leisure.

Saturday 3 September      Adelaide Sightseeing     
Breakfast and Dinner
This morning we are taken on a sightseeing tour of Adelaide and the surrounding suburbs of Glenelg and historic Adelaide. We stop at Haigh’s Chocolates Visitor Centre for a guided tour. Learn how Haigh’s Chocolates are made and of course sample the award winning chocolate.

Sunday 4 September        Fleurieu Peninsula
Breakfast and Dinner
Today we head south to discover the Fleurieu Peninsula known for its seaside villages and world class wines. On the eastern side we stop at the historic river port of Goolwa and Victor Harbour where you may like to ride the horse-drawn tram to Granite Island. This afternoon we visit McLaren Vale famous for its Shiraz. We take time to stop at a cellar door and sample some of the popular wines.                                  

Monday 5 September       Murray River Cruise
Breakfast and Dinner
This morning we head to the Adelaide Hills dotted with historic and pretty little towns. Visit the historic village of Hahndorf and explore the boutique shops and perhaps enjoy a wine or cheese tasting. This afternoon you are transferred to Mannum to join the PS Murray Princess for your 4 night cruise on the great Murray River. Enjoy a welcome dinner as you cruise upriver to the overnight mooring. Watch for nocturnal wildlife - kangaroos, wombats etc on the riverbank as we cruise under floodlight.

Tuesday 6 September      Murray River
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
For keen photographers daybreak is the time to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific birdlife includes pelicans, blue wrens and black swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning cruising upriver to Big Bend where we disembark and join a vineyards coach tour. Rejoining the Murray Princess we continue to our overnight mooring.                        

Wednesday 7 September            Murray River
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After breakfast enjoy a guided nature walk before cruising down river to Swan Reach. Join the guided walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum. This afternoon we continue downriver to Sunnydale where it is all ashore for the Woolshed Sound & Light Show - a recreation of typical Australian woolshed history. Later visit the Native Wildlife Shelter and this evening enjoy a great Aussie Barbaque - cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River. After dinner you may like to join the nocturnal eco-tour travelling by tractor and cart.

Thursday 8 September              Murray River
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
This morning the ship cruises slowly downstream past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. Reaching Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, step back in time for a guided boardwalk to view ancient rock carvings and learn about the aboriginal history in the area. Tonight the Captain and officers host a special Farewell Captain’s Buffet.

Friday 9 September              Mannum to Adelaide via Barossa Valley
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today the PS Murray Princess returns to Mannum. Disembarking you join the coach for your tour of the Barossa Valley. The Barossa Valley is Australia’s richest and best known wine making region. The tour includes three premium wineries, lunch and free time in Tanunda before returning to Adelaide late afternoon.

Saturday 10 September           Adelaide - at leisure
Breakfast and Dinner
Today is at leisure. Visit the Adelaide Central Market, browse the shops of Rundle Mall or Harbourtown complex, or take the tram to Glenelg.
Adelaide has great museums, art galleries, restaurants and cafes all within easy walking.

Sunday 11 September             Adelaide to Auckland
Breakfast
This morning farewell Adelaide and transfer to Adelaide International Airport for your flight direct to Auckland with Air New Zealand.
On arrival in Auckland you will be met and transferred to your home or hotel in Auckland.

Murray River Cruise
* Cabins each have ensuite, air conditioning, electric blankets and are serviced daily.
* Cabins are twin bedded. Double bed cabins can be requested and incur a surcharge of AU$200 per cabin.
* The PS Murray Princess has two spas, two saunas, sun deck, two bars, two lounges, dining saloon, guest laundry, gift shop and library, and 24 hour tea and coffee facilities.
* All passengers over 70 years must have full travel insurance or a Doctors Certificate of fitness to travel.
